Christmas Presents

I've really enjoyed looking at what you all got from Santa this year, so i though i'd join in and show you what i was lucky enough to get :)

First up is this gorgeous Cath Kidston shopper off my mum. I've wanted one of these for a while now, i was so happy to see this on christmas morning!

Next are the beauty products i recieved. I got the mark hill hairdryer and the benefit glowla kit off my dad (both are amazing!), the soap and glory tin off my nana (i havent tried these yet but the creams smell lovely and the polka dot mittens/socks were a massive hit!), the ted baker compact and the front cover palette are off my step mum and viva glam gaga is off my best friend (this has not left my lips since she gave it me christmas eve. its love).

Last up are my little bits and bobs. I got some sheepie slippers from la senza, a paperchase diary, michael buble and olly murs cds (i cant decide who i love more!), a leather purse and bird earrings from topshop and a silver leaf necklace from accessorize :)

I also got a turtle charm and a cupcake charm from each of my brothers for my pandora bracelet but they went straight on my bracelet and i forgot to photograph them... oops.

What was your favourite present this year?

Hope you've all had a fantastic christmas :)

Time For Change

(All pictures are from weheartit.com or google images)

I've always struggled with my weight but recently its been getting me down quite a bit so ive decided to do something about it. I feel like im stuck in a bit of a vicious circle and that my appearance is controlling my life.

I've been to see the doctor and i need to loose about a stone to reach my healthy weight - so its an achieveable target! I'm not the type of girl that can starve herself or just live on salad. I'm also currently unemployed so i cant afford to join weight watches or go to the gym. I'm planning on cutting out crisps (these are my form of cigarettes! i cant go a day without eating them!), chocolate, biscuits and other snacky junk foods. For meals times i plan to eat lots of vegtable omlettes, chicken and noodles, fresh pasta, soups, etc. Im also going to allow myself either a small treat a day or a meal off when i can have a low fat pizza or something once a week. I think that if you begrudge yourself everything you like you'll just fail.

This has been a bit of a random post but if anyone knows any tips, healthy recipes or any exercises i can do at home please let me know!

What helps you stay healthy? Or helps you through your diet?

Nails Inc: Jermyn Street

This months issue of Glamour comes with a free Nails Inc polish worth £11. Ive wanted to try this brand for a while but couldn't bring myself to spend that much of my much needed student loan on a nail polish!

I picked up Jermyn Street & i love it! I was after a colour that would see me through autumn/winter and it makes a nice change from my standard red nails.

Ive applied one coat here (no top coat) and the colours still really strong, ive had it on two days now too and theres no chipping! Ive seen that people arent too keen on the Nails Inc brushes but i think it does the job fine. The colour reminds me a bit of Eyekos Posh Polish which i also love.
Im dont think ill be giving up my models own/barry m polishes to switch to Nails Inc any time soon but id still recommend! :)

There are 4 different colours to choose from, which one did you pick?

A very belated Halloween Post

I went up to spend the weekend with some friends from University. We ended up going out on the friday night and on actual Halloween so our outfits were just a mismatch of what we could find last minute!

On the friday i went as a creepy doll.

It was quite a simple look i went for, i actually changed my dress last minute as i got a bit body consicous, so i just wore a plain black skater dress, ripped tights and ballet pumps. For make up i covered my face in concealer, added thick black fake eyelashes, bright pink cheeks and used red lipstick to create a heart shaped mouth. To make it a bit more 'halloweeny' i covered myself in fake blood and black body paint. I also mutilated a teddy bear... :)

On the sunday i went as leopard.

Again a really simple look to achieve, i borrowed a black vest top and leopard print skirt and one of my friends housemates had some home made ears and tail. For my face i used a bit of bronzer to make me a bit orange then i used a grey/gold eyeshawdow down the sides of my face and an eyeliner pen to draw on some spots and whiskers. We'd run out of fake blood by this point so i used trusty old red lipstick for some bloody drool!

Here are a couple of pictures of the others, they were chilean miners, roadkill, a corpse bride, crazy scientist, cats, bats, and a ghostbuster!

Im already excited for next year!!!

Daisy Rings

I've just discovered Daisy Jewellery. I've been playing around on the website for about an hour now (it totally counts as productive!) The website allows you to browse through the rings, which are categorised into Sterling Silver Band Rings, 18ct Gold-plated Band Rings, Flowers and Animals Rings, Heart Rings, Stone Set Rings, Freshwater Pearl Rings and an Urban Spacers Collection, and then you can design a stack ring. You can mix and match any ring from any of the catergories. They show you what they look like close together and expanded.

I chose Chambray £33, Poppy £50 and Damask £25. The website then lets you see what they would like on your hand (you can even change the skin tone and select a nail colour from a range of OPI polishes).

I think they are a really good idea, i love being able to personalise jewellery. I think these rings will be the first things i purchase when i get a bit of spare cash.

Prices start at £22. Check them out at http://www.daisyjewellery.com/ Daisy rings are also stocked by Ernest Jones Stores.

They're also offering a free IOTA ring (worth £28) when you spend over £100 :)

Have any of you ever brought anything from Daisy? What rings would you get if you were to make a purchase?

Someones been shopping...

I had a bit of birthday money left over, so what better to spend it on than a few new goodies?!

1.Topshop Heart Cardigan £18 (sale), ive had my eye on this for a while now so when i saw it reduced i couldnt resist, ive worn it so much already this past week, ive been throwing it on over summer dresses when i wasnt sure what the weather was going to do!

2. Topshop Pointelle Cardigan £28, this is the first of my A/W buys and it is soooo cosy! I cant wait for autum so i can wear this some thick tights, a beret and boots.

3. Topshop Studded T-bar Shoes £7 (sale), these were the last ones in the store and they were my size - i took it as a sign! I love t-bar shoes and the colour is still bang on trend. Bargin!

4. Soul Cal Polo Shirt from Republic £5 (sale), i thought the unicorn was so cute and that it would be quite nice for just lounging around in.

5. Topshop Flower Earrings £1.50 (sale), accessories are my weakness and they were so cheap! who could say no?!

6. Cherry Carmex £2.49, ive only just discovered carmex. I used to use a bit of vaseline when my lips were a bit dry but i didnt feel it was really helping, i needed something a bit stronger and this does the job perfectly. Plus it smells good enough to eat. nom nom.

7. Batiste Dry Shampoo in Boho £1.79, ive tried the tropical and blush versions before but i found the smells a bit too sweet, this is by far my favourite.

8. Hugo Boss Orange £35, this has quickly become one of my favourite perfumes, ill definately be repurchasing this.

9. Urban Outfitters Owl Cushion £26, ive just moved back home after finishing university and im trying to make my old room a feel little bit more homely, i thought this owl was super cute and i loved the patchwork look.

What have you been buying recently?

Pixie Lott Inspired OOTN

Who doesnt love Pixie Lotts style?! She always looks effortlessly gorgeous! I love the way she takes something quite simple and glams it up with make up and accessories.
This is one my favourite examples:

I tried to recreate this sort of look when i out for cocktails with my girls for my 21st birthday a few weeks ago.(Sorry for the scribbled out face, i was looking a bit gormless!)

Dress, headband and shoes are all from Topshop. Bracelet is Pandora :)

How do you think i did?

Tweet Tweet

I just can't get enough of Pack Up by Eliza Doolittle, it's such a feel good summer song! It cheers me right up when Mr Weather Man isn't playing nicely...

Do you have any favourite summer songs?

Style Icon: Zooey Deschanel

I watched 500 Days of Summer for the first time yesterday and I really enjoy it, so much so I watched it twice! For anybody that hasn't seen it I really recommend it.
Ive seen Zooey Deschanel in a couple of films before ( Yes Man & The Happening ) and I love her! From her hair to her make up to her clothes, I really rate her!

(love this highwaisted shorts combo!)

Hope you all had a lovely Easter !!

Out With The Old, In With The New

I've just been having a browse on some of my favourite websites and I've found so many pretty things that I want! Theres such nice stuff out at the minute. If only I could afford it all :( I'm planning on sorting out all my clothes/shoes/accessories this week and then either giving them to charity or putting them on ebay. I've got so much stuff that I've brought on impulse that either doesn't suit me or didn't fit and was purely brought in the hope that one day it would. I'll let you know when I've put some stuff on ebay so you can have a nose, there might be something in my collection thats just right for you :)

Vest top - Miss Selfridge, Heart Shorts - Topshop, Earrings - ASOS

I'd quite like to try this outfit. I haven't worn shorts in a long time, especially a pair with a bold print like these. I normally stick to simple dresses and plain tops and skirts so this could be a nice change without being to out there! I think it would be quite an easy outfit to take from day to night too, I'd wear it with a denim jacket, pumps or gladiator sandals for the day and then add platform heels, statement jewellery and a big clutch bag for night.

What do you think?

Signature Scent

I've developed a bit of thing for perfumes recently. I used to just pick a bottle based on how pretty it looked or what was on offer but now I find myself reaching for bottles that reflect how I'm feeling.
Here's what my collection looks like at the minute...

I find myself reaching for Vera Wang when I'm feeling girly, Marc Jacobs when the sun is shining, Dolce&Gabbana when I'm off on a date, Valentino for a big night out and Clinique when I'm feeling a bit down, the bottle instantly perks me up! I love the flower design on it!

I don't think I've got a collection quite big enough to match my every mood just yet so here is my wish list...

What are your favourite perfumes?

Alice in Wonderland

'White Rabbits, White Rabbits!'

Does anybody else say that on the first day of a new month? Or is it just me? I don't know what its like in the rest of the UK (I hear its all snow and floods) but here in the bubble that is North Wales it's super sunny, feels like spring is finally here :D

I'm so excited about the release of Disney's new Alice in Wonderland film and I'm loving all the Alice in Wonderland inspired products that are around at the moment. Here are a couple of my favourites:

Rare - Fantasy Print Vest

I'm actually wearing this top today with jeggings and some pumps. I managed to get mine in the sale for £10 at a Topshop in Canterbury just after christmas but I think its still available on asos.com for £24.

Urban Decay - Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows £28

I'm not usually one for colour, I tend to wear neutral colours in the day and black for the evening but this Alice in Wonderland palette might encourage me to change my ways...

Pandora Tea Cup Charm £20

I love the pandora charm bracelets, I was given one for christmas but I don't have many charms for it yet. This one reminded me so much of the infamous tea party and is now definately on my wish list!

Hope you like them as much as I do!

My favourite bracelet...

... has just broken :( I've had my dogeared bracelet for just over a year now and the string has just split. My wrist looks so bare now! The idea behind these bracelets is spiritual. You're supposed to make a wish on them and when they break it's supposed to come true. I can't even remember making a wish on mine. Oops. I'm going to have to get me a nice new one now, it's a good job I get paid soon! Lets hope i remember to make a wish this time!

Change: the act of passing from one place, form, state or phase to another...

Recently I've been thinking alot about change. I'm going to be leaving university in a couple of months time and I have no idea what I'm going to do with my life. One of the reasons I decided to come to university was so I could find myself, but I still don't know who I am. I had these big plans to become a child psychologist or a play therapist and now I want to work in retail and with consumer behaviour.
I've always struggled with my confidence because I've always been scared that people are judging me on how I look. Over the past 18months I've worked so hard at trying to change that. My university is big on presentations and we have to do at least two a month. As much as I hate them I'm finally starting to feel better about standing up in front of groups of people and I might even be starting to believe that they are actually listening to what I have to say, not judging me on what shoes I'm wearing, or how I've done my hair that day. I've also lost around 2 and 1/2 stone and I'm only about 7 pounds off my ideal healthy weight now. I feel SO much better in myself but I don't always see this change when I look in the mirror and it's unbelievably frustrating! I think because I'm still wearing the same sort of outfits I was 18months ago, I'm still seeing the old me in them when I look in the mirror. I think what I'm trying to get at, is that I think I need a new style, so I can try and leave that old me behind. I'd like to feel comfortable but fashionable at the same time. I do have a few ideas and I have splurged out on a few new pieces. All my friends seem to be growing up around me and I'm fed up of holding myself back so hopefully this will work. I'm planning on putting some pictures up soon and I'd really love to hear what you think :)
I apologise for the randomness of this blog, i just had to put it out there. If you understand where I'm coming from then YAY, if you think I'm just being silly, thats ok too, because I probably am. I do psychology, I know I just need to change my thinking pattens. Anyway, if I'm feeling brave later I might do my first ever outfit post... :)

Costs vs Benefit

I've been motivating myself to revise for my consumer psych midterm next week with the reward of Benefits Bad Gal mascara. I've wanted it for ages but the £15.50 price tag put me off a little bit. Anyway, today i decided revision had gone well enough to finally give in. I'd read a few mixed reviews on the internet so i was really eager to try it out. I'm currently using No.7 extravagant lashes (sorry about the rubbish picture!) as i have quite sensitive eyes and like to use products that are hypo-allergenic so I'm hoping a high quality brand like benefit will work just the same. I'd read in some of the reviews that some people were finding the brush hard to use and i have to agree with them. The mascara clumped on the brush and i ended up getting it all over my face. I tried to take a picture of the two different brushes, perhaps I'm just used to using the square brush on the No.7 mascara...

I also found that it didn't make my lashes quite as long or dark as I'd expected it to and it's already starting to flake. I'm really disappointed as i usually love benefit products. Hopefully with a bit more practise and maybe some layering I'll change my mind, but right now, I'm going to have to conclude that the costs definitely outweigh the benefits for this mascara. To finish on a positive note, at least it will look pretty in my make up bag! :)

The one where it's all new and exciting...

About me

I'm a 20 year old psychology student and im currently in my final year at university (scary stuff!!) I only discovered blogging about two weeks ago while i was procrastinating and now i can't get enough! Feeling inspired i thought i'd give my own a go. I'll try to keep my blog updated with fashion thoughts, my own outfits, style icons, wish lists, product reviews and just general ramblings. So where better to start than by letting you know a bit more about little old me...

Consumer Psychology, friends (the people and the t.v series!), fashion magazines, my ipod complete with an array of music, photos, travelling, nights out, Pandora charms, individuality, scarfs, platform heels, pug dogs, fairy lights, the summer, topshop, benefit make up, nail polish, asos.com, sex and the city, tunic tops and leggings, lollipops, the colour pink and anything vintage and girly!

Touchscreen phones, dieting, revision, having low self esteem, rain, arrogant males and plastic looking girls, being ill and being a skint student.

I've seen a few people doing handbag posts so i thought id finish with a quick pic of what i carry with me on a daily basis...

Thanks for reading, please leave comments - i'd love to hear what you think! xo
